Maypole Festival of the Oberndorf Rural Youth

With the exhibition "The Everlasting Moment," Bernard Embacher presents a series of oil paintings deeply rooted in the atmosphere of the Ligurian port city of Genoa.
Between the sea and the hills, between narrow vicoli and the open space of the port, works are created that oscillate between representation and free painting.
The motifs are drawn from everyday life: boats, lemons, hedges, alleyways. Yet the paintings are not depictions of concrete places. They emerge from fleeting perceptions – from moments of light, color contrasts, and movements that escape the quick glance. At the center is the attempt to capture a moment that is both fleeting and timeless.
This concept of the "everlasting moment" shapes the entire body of work. The painting becomes a place where time condenses and simultaneously dissolves. Light, color, and structure form pictorial spaces that describe less than they make experienceable.
The works are characterized by an intense, physical painting style. The oil paint is layered, condensed, torn apart, and rebuilt. Every trace remains visible. Surfaces of great presence arise, where control and chance, form and dissolution encounter one another.
Genoa is more than a motif – it is a space of resonance. The city appears in fragments: in the shimmering light, in the density of the alleyways, in the proximity to the sea. At the same time, the images open up to universal spaces of experience, in which individual memories and perceptions can be reflected.
Thus, the exhibition invites one to understand painting not just as an image, but as a moment – as a moment that remains.
