Are you about to book your holiday in Brixental Valley, or have you already booked? Then you have to know how to plan your journey to get here. We have compiled the following valuable and important information for you that ought to help. But one thing: The holiday region in the centre of the Kitzbühel Alps has fantastic transport links. This makes getting here in your own car very easy. There are no mountain passes, serpentines or narrow valley heads. Even getting here by train is easy and straightforward. Anyone who would like to continue on their journey can even travel by plane. Three key, international airports are in the direct catchment area of Brixental Valley.
Brixental Valley is one of the first valleys after the Austrian-German border near Kufstein and is easily accessible - no narrow dams or mountain passes. It is only a 30 minute drive from the border to Brixen im Thale, Kirchberg in Tirol or Westendorf.
The towns are ideally connected to the highway and rail network, but are quietly located away from through traffic. A dedicated rail line with stops in all three towns and regular regional trains make for stress-free travel by train.
Brixental Valley is also easily accessible by plane: The airports of Innsbruck (75 km), Salzburg (100 km) and Munich (120 km) offer numerous connections. A regional airport shuttle ensures a comfortable onward journey.
After more than 55 years of operation, the Lueg Bridge on the A13 Brenner motorway has reached the end of its useful life.
In order to ensure road safety and to relieve the strain on the bridge, from 1 January 2025 only one lane of traffic will be allowed in each direction. In order to avoid long delays and congestion on particularly busy days with high levels of passenger and freight traffic, a temporary dual carriageway with special traffic management will be set up on these days. This will ensure that the regions north and south of the Brenner Pass are easily accessible at all times.
All these measures will ensure that the existing bridge can continue to operate safely until it is replaced by a new structure. Construction of the new Lueg Bridge is scheduled to start in spring 2025, subject to all necessary permits.
